Steven Clifford Buku Reu, known professionally as VPX, is a Tropical Island Reggae artist, songwriter, and producer from Talasea District in West New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. Proudly belonging to the Bakovi tribe, VPX carries his cultural roots and island heritage into every beat, lyric, and melody he creates. His musical journey began in childhood, following the footsteps of his elders in traditional string bands. In 1996, he founded a Catholic family gospel ministry within his clan, which later evolved into the Valpex Cultmix Band. Between 2006 and 2007, he recorded his first album with PowerHaus Records in Lae, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to music and message. After going solo, VPX continued to build his craft, launching his own local studio — Hotsprings Production Studio (HPS) — where he released numerous singles and his Vol. 1 album under his independent label. His authentic sound quickly gained national attention, earning top spots on local radio stations such as FM100.

In 2023, VPX’s growing influence caught international attention, leading to a signing with Paradream Records USA, an independent label based in New Jersey. This milestone expanded his reach, connecting his Pacific Island reggae sound with audiences across the globe. Driven by a deep sense of purpose, VPX uses his platform to promote unity, peace, love, and awareness. His songwriting process centers on truth and conviction — not just to entertain, but to inspire and awaken. He often says, “Music is family, music is business, and music is a healer of tiredness and sorrow.”

Inspired by both local legends like Patti Potts and Greg Basil and international icons such as Lucky Dube, VPX has developed a signature style — a blend of Tropical Island Reggae infused with conscious lyrics and uplifting spirit. To date, he has released 10 reggae tracks under Paradream Records USA, available on YouTube and major streaming platforms. With upcoming singles, an EP2 album (2025–2026), and a connection with iMPULZE RECORDS Nigeria for global reggae promotion, VPX continues to expand his musical horizon while staying true to his island roots. Through every song and performance, VPX remains a voice for change, a bridge between cultures, and a living example of how music can inspire, unite, and heal.
